Evacuation order in effect for coastal Levy County

An evacuation order is in effect for coastal Levy County, reports Levy County Emergency Management.

Levy County Emergency Management says that an evacuation order is still in effect for coastal Levy County. For those seeking shelter, a shelter of last resort is open at the Bronson Elementary School at 400 Ishie Avenue, Bronson, Florida 32621. Residents that need evacuation but do not have transportation may call 352-486-3485 for transportation assistance. 

However, please keep in mind that no shelter in Levy County is pet friendly. The Levy County Department of Emergency Management says that if your dog or cat needs to be sheltered, bring a crate, food for the pet, and a current rabies certification to the Levy County Animal Services building at 12055 NE 69th Lane, Bronson, FL 32621. If you do not provide proof of rabies vaccination, the county veterinarian will administer the vaccination for just $10. Only cash will be accepted. All dogs and cats will be sheltered at the Levy County Animal Services facility in Bronson. 

Schools are closed Wednesday and Thursday. Levy County government officers are also closed with the exception of public safety departments and the Levy County landfill. 

All boat ramps are closed at  S.R. 40 West at the Yankeetown General Store is closed to all traffic.State Road 24 at the Number 4 Bridge going into Cedar Key is also closed. The Cedar Key Police Department hsa also closed all traffic on the island as of 2 p.m. No vehicles are allowed on the roadways in the city except emergency vehicles. This will last until the storm surge recedes.
