Human skeletal remains found in Ocklawaha

Detectives with the Marion County Sheriff's Office are investigating the discovery of human skeletal remains in Ocklawaha.  Deputies received a call around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.

The remains were found by three fishermen at a remote location between the 6300th and 6500th block of SE 149th Court Road. The bones were located adjacent to an unnamed lake and were visible from a walking path surrounding the lake.

Evidence technicians responded to process the scene. Detectives will be conducting a joint investigation with the Medical Examiner's Office to determine the gender, identity and cause/manner of death of this individual.
