Jurors picked in trial of fourth shooting spree suspect

KISSIMEE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Fourteen jurors were selected on Tuesday in the trial for the fourth suspect accused of killing a young man in his Poinciana home.

Victoria Rios, 19, is charged with first-degree murder and armed burglary.  Investigators say Eric Roopnarin was shot and stabbed in his own home in 2013.  Three other men, Konrad Schafer, David Damus and Juan Murial have already been convicted in the case.

State Attorney Jeff Ashton says the men used Rios to lure Roopnarin with the promise of sex for money.  

The victim’s mother took the stand, offering emotional testimony.  "As I got closer then I saw what happened, crying. There were two bullet shells.  He was in a pool of blood with a sheet, he didn’t answer."

Video of Rios being interview by investigators was shown in court on Tuesday. The defense had wanted the case it dropped, saying Rios never wanted Roopnarin to be killed.
