LifeSouth: Blood donors needed after Hurricane Michael

Community blood center 'LifeSouth' announced on Thursday that they need the help of donors after Hurricane Michael.

They say that they need the help to maintain the blood supply at hospitals and communities which were greatly impacted by the severe storm. There is a significant shortage of the type O blood and platelets of all blood types.

LIfeSouth reportedly experienced a substantial drop in donations due to the closure of schools and businesses. LifeSouth urges the community to visit a donor center or a bloodmobile and donate.

Donors must be at least 17 or 16 with parental permission, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health. A photo ID is also required.
