Luis Toledo murder trial begins in St. Augustine

Luis Toledo is accused of killing his wife and her two kids in their Deltona home in October 2013. On Monday, his first-degree murder trial began in St. Augustine.

Judge Raul Zambrano moved the trial from Volusia County out of concern there was so much publicity and feared it would be difficult to find an unbiased jury.  He wants a 15-person jury, with 12 jurors and three alternates.

Toledo is facing two counts of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree murder. The bodies of Yessenia Suarez and her kids, Michael and Thalia, were never found.

Both sides agreed to dismiss a commercial airline pilot who has been flying supplies to Puerto Rico, a man scheduled to be married in a few weeks, and two people who said they are still cleaning up Hurricane Irma damage at their homes.

Jury selection is set to continue at least through Wednesday evening.
