Man accused of shooting son denied bond
DELAND, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Deputies say it started out as just an argument between a father and his adult son and ended in a bloody shooting. Grady Edmondson Sr. faced a judge Wednesday and was given a public defender and no bond.
Deputies say Edmondson Sr. shot Grady Edmondson Jr. at their home on Holly Boulevard in DeLand Tuesday afternoon. Neighbors say the son recently moved in with his father. Deputies say the two were arguing in the driveway when things got heated.
According to the police report, Edmondson Sr. was upset about his son talking about the son's mother. After a chest bump, Edmondson Jr. told deputies his dad got so mad, he shot him in the chest.
Family friend Tina Bodnar says the neighborhood is like a family, and they are all very upset about the shooting.
"I adore him. We are a tight neighborhood here, and this is shocking to know," she says.
Edmondson Jr. is expected to be ok. He has three children who are now staying with relatives.
