Man fatally shot at Ocala apartment complex

OCALA, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - A man is dead following a shooting in Ocala. 

Investigators say the victim, 54-year-old Cornelius Lewis, was shot Tuesday night at the Parkside Garden Apartments.  He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. 

Detectives were able to identify a 17-year-old man as a suspect in the case.  While questioning a witness, authorities said the suspect arrived at the Sheriff's Office to a provide a statement, which they said confirmed he was the person responsible for the shooting.

The suspect, who is not being named at this time because he is a minor, has been charged with second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a juvenile.  He is being held without bond.
