McClain, Sullivan ready for re-election bids

After easily winning re-election in November, Republican House members Stan McClain and Jennifer Sullivan are preparing to run again in 2020.

McClain, R-Ocala, has opened a campaign account to seek another term in Marion County’s House District 23, according to the state Division of Elections website. McClain received 66 percent of the vote in his November victory.

Similarly, Sullivan, R-Mount Dora, has opened a campaign account to seek re-election in 2020 in House District 31, which is made up of parts of Lake and Orange counties. Sullivan received 61.1 percent of the vote in her November race.

Also in recent days, Orlando Republican Frank Edel Blanco opened an account to run in 2020 in Orange County’s House District 44. Blanco hopes to unseat Rep. Geraldine Thompson, an Orlando Democrat who knocked off former Republican Rep. Bobby Olszewski in November.
