Ocala Salvation Army offering free Thanksgiving meals
OCALA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - On Monday, there was a lot going on at the Salvation Army in Ocala. It all had to do with food. It was free Thanksgiving meal distribution day. This year, nearly 2,000 people in need are getting a free Thanksgiving meal. Each family gets a box full of food with things like a turkey, stuffing and all the fixin's. For many, this is about more than a free meal
Alice Hodgkins, CEO of the Salvation Army’s Center of Hope in Ocala told Fox 35’s David Williams "It's more than a free meal because some people just cant, aren’t able to provide for their families at this time. We're just blessed that we're able to help them."
Ana Graves, a mother of four who got a free Thanksgiving meal said "I'm ever so grateful. Ever, ever so grateful. I know I'm not going to get into religion or politics, but God comes first and if it weren’t for him, we wouldn’t be here today."
It's too late to sign up for a free Thanksgiving meal this year, but there's still time to sign up for a free Christmas meal. Or anybody is welcome to the big Thanksgiving Day feast at the Salvation army in Ocala on Thanksgiving Day.
The meals can be picked up at 320 NW 1st Avenue in Ocala. The Thanksgiving feast is from noon until 2pm on Thanksgiving Day. For more information, call 352.732.8326
