An Ocoee police officer has been issued a citation for his involvement in a crash that left himself and one woman injured.  The Florida Highway Patrol on Wednesday released video of the wreck, which happened on Orange Blossom Trail at Holden Avenue in Orange County on the morning of May 12.

Ocoee Police said the incident started with two alleged armed robberies in Altamonte Springs.  Two suspects fled the scene but were later spotted in Ocoee.  Ocoee Police said the suspects then led officers on a chase, before the patrol car was involved in the serious crash.

In the video of the crash, you see Ocoee officer Chris Bonner, 29, racing through a red light while following what officials said was a vehicle that was stolen out of Oviedo.  According to the FHP, Bonner had his lights and sirens activated at the time, when his patrol car slammed into the front end of a Toyota Corolla driven by Yahaira Castro Montalvo, 26.    The Toyota was sent into multiple spins before coming to a stop.

Both drivers where transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, but according to authorities, none  life-threatening.

The FHP said Bonner was cited with failure to obey traffic laws, a noncriminal traffic infraction, punishable as a moving violation.
