Orlando weather: Heat, humidity build as storm chances rise midweek

Only a few isolated thundershowers are expected across Central Florida this evening — nothing like the widespread storms that hit Sunday.

What will the weather look like tonight?

What To Expect:

Rain chances taper off later this evening with overnight lows settling into the mid-70s.

What will Orlando weather look like on Tuesday?

What To Expect:

A mix of sun and clouds is forecast with a slight chance of a few afternoon thunderstorms. Temperatures will climb into the low 90s, and high humidity will push the heat index close to 100 degrees.

What will the weather look like for the rest of the week?

Looking Ahead:

Rain chances increase from Wednesday through Friday, with scattered afternoon storms likely each day. Some storms could be strong, producing gusty winds or hail. Before storms develop, heat indices could reach between 98 and 104 degrees.

A rare late-May cold front is expected to move through the region on Saturday, bringing lower humidity, reduced rain chances, and slightly cooler temperatures. Sunday—the first day of June and the official start of hurricane season—looks to be pleasant across much of the area.

Next week, higher rain chances are expected, signaling the likely beginning of Florida’s rainy season, characterized by daily afternoon and evening storms through the summer months.

Tracking the Tropics

Big picture view:

No tropical development is expected in the Atlantic basin this week. In the eastern Pacific, however, Tropical Storm Alvin is likely to form soon and could strengthen into a hurricane as it moves away from Mexico in the coming days.
