Deputies are investigating a deadly plane crash in Marion County, which happened around 9 a.m. in the 21850 block of NW 150th Avenue Road near Williston.

Authorities say a plane flown by Riley Stevens, 64, of South Carolina, went down Tuesday morning in a rural Marion County pasture. He was the only person aboard.

FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen told the Associated Press that the VIRUS-SW experimental aircraft departed Sebring Regional Airport shortly before the crash and was heading to Oconee County Regional Airport in Clemson, South Carolina.

There were heavy rains in the area at the time of the crash, but authorities haven't said whether they were a factor.  No other details were available at this time.
