Police: 2 men critical after hammer attack

Two construction workers who were working on a home in Daytona Beach were attacked by a man with a hammer, police say.   One of the victim is in grave condition with life-threatening injuries; the other victim is critical condition.   The man who allegedly assaulted them has been arrested.  Arenthius Dante Jenkins, 32, is being charged with two counts of aggravated battery and one count of ggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Officers responded to a home on Jefferson Street on Friday afternoon.   A caller told police that a man wearing all black had assaulted people with a hammer and bat.  Units arrived and said they saw Jenkins holding two hammers that had blood on them.  He was immediately taken into custody.  Names and ages of the victims were not immediately known.
