Police say teen has died after accidental shooting

Police say a teenager who was accidentally shot while visiting friends at an Orlando-area home has died. Lavardo Fisher, 13, was not breathing when paramedics arrived at the home on Spottswood Drive on Sunday afternoon. He was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital in critical condition but died from his injuries late Monday.

According to a spokesperson with the Orange County Sheriff's Office, two 18-year-old relatives started playing with a gun after finding it under a bed while playing video games. The gun went off and a bullet struck the boy.

"Somehow, one of the 18-year olds knew there was a gun, an unsecured gun, got a hold of the gun and there was some horse play the gun went off, striking the 13-year old in the head, tragically," said Jane Watrel with the Orange County Sheriff's Office.  "It was absolutely tragic."

Deputies later arrested the owner of the gun, 35-year-old Walter Morame, who was not home at the time of the shooting.  Morame was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

"Our homicide squad is going to be going through and and seeing what happened and if more charges should be filed or if the possession of a firearm by convicted felon is enough of a charge against this individual," Watrel added.

As part of the investigation, deputies will decide if they will also decide the two 18-year olds will face charges.
