Police: Woman mauled by dogs at apartment complex

A woman is clinging to life after being mauled by dogs, according to the Sanford Police Department.  Officers arrived at the Stonebrook Apartments off of W. Airport Blvd around 3:30 p.m. after witnesses reported hearing a woman screaming. 

The officers tracked the screams to a unit at the complex, where they found a woman who was being attacked by five dogs.  One of the officers fired shots at the dogs, killing them.  A sixth dog that was inside a crate was removed from the apartment.

In all, four victims were attacked.  The woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.  Two other adults and one child were also hurt; another child was present but not injured. 

No other details were immediately released by authorities.
