School placed on lockdown while police search for home invasion suspects
ALACHUA, Fla. (WOGX FOX 51) - Santa Fe High School was placed on lockdown late Wednesday as the Alachua Police Department was investigating a suspected home invasion and robbery along NW 138th Avenue.
Officers first responded to call from the homeowners around 1:30 p.m. who told them that they arrived to find two people inside the house. According to police, the suspects tied up the homeowners and one was beaten, receiving non life-threatening injuries.
When the suspects left, they took vehicles belonging to the homeowners. One of those vehicles has since been located near the high school.
One of the homeowners was transported to the hospital, and now officers are searching the area around the high school for any sign of the suspects. The lockdown was lifted and students released from school just before 4 p.m.
