Three people and one dog rescued from Ocala house fire
OCALA, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - Three occupants and one dog were rescued from a house fire in Ocala.
The Marion County Fire Rescue says that units were dispatched at 7:47 a.m. to Southest 89th Place in the Silver Springs Shores area of Ocala. The 911 caller reported seeing smoke coming from the kitchen of his neighbor's home. The caller stated that he attempted to pound on the front door, but no one answered.
Units arrived on scene within five minutes and forced entry into the residence. They say they were met with moderately heavy smoke in the structure. They conducted a primary search and found two adults and one child asleep in their beds. They removed the three occupants out of the structure.
There were no reported injures and all three residents refused further treatment or transport. Firefighters also located a dog, named Lilly, and ensured she was kept in a safe place away from the structure.
Marion County Fire Rescue says that the cause of the fire has been determined to be the oven in the kitchen. The home had two smoke detectors installed, but it is unknown if they were working.
