UCF students move in to new downtown Orlando campus dorms

It's a big day in downtown Orlando as hundreds of students move into the dorms on the University of Central Florida's brand new campus.

On Wednesday, students will move into Union West at the Creative Village, a student housing tower for UCF and Valencia at the downtown Orlando campus. The 15-story tower boasts 640 beds and student housing on the upper floors. All rooms come furnished. Officials say 95% will be occupied by both schools.

On the bottom floors are classrooms, Valencia's culinary school, a health clinic, and a large recreation and wellness center.

Students who spoke with Fox 35 said they're excited to move in.

"It's amazing. The new equipment. The lighting. The rooms. It's going to be so much fun."

"Lake Eola is literally steps away. There's so much opportunity for us. I can get an internship and it'll take me 5 minutes walking from here."

Drivers who plan on going through downtown Orlando on Wednesday should be mindful of the traffic as parents drop off their kids for the big move in, so expect delays.

Classes start Monday.
