Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil was released Friday from federal immigration detention, freed after 104 days by a judge’s ruling after becoming a symbol of President Donald Trump ’s clampdown on campus protests. The former Columbia University graduate student left a federal facility in Louisiana on Friday. He is expected to head to New York to reunite with his U.S. citizen wife and infant son, born while Khalil was detained. Khalil is holding a news conference to speak on the recent events. During the briefing, Leavitt said President Donald Trump's plans to crack down on undocumented immigrants are working. Last month, border patrol officers said they saw a 93% decrease of undocumented immigrants crossing the Southwest border. In May, Leavitt said zero undocumented immigrants were released into the country by border patrol.

'Quit now': Florida Rep. Maxwell Frost to ICE agents

Florida Congressman Maxwell Frost touted proposed legislation that would require ICE facilities and ICE-affilitated facilities to publicly release information on the people housed at those facilities, including names, dates, locations, and the reasoning for their detainment. He attacked President Donald Trump's immigration enforcement, and challenged ICE agents to "quit now," if they choose to hide their faces while enforcing these policies.

U.S. Rep. demands accountability from ICE

On Wednesday, U.S. Rep. Maxwell Alejandro Frost hosted a press conference alongside immigration advocacy groups to announce new legislation aimed at strengthening public accountability of ICE detention facilities and protecting due process rights for all. Frost said his “Stop Unlawful Detention and End Mistreatment (SUDEM) Act” would pull back the curtain on immigration detention by requiring all ICE-operated and ICE-affiliated facilities to be held accountable for their processes and actions."

Officials, Apopka family torn apart by deportation speak

An Apopka family has been torn apart by deportation. Esvin Juarez, a small business owner and father of four U.S.-citizen children, was detained when he showed up to his immigration check-in, disappeared for eight days, and later deported to Guatemala. Mr. Juarez was well into the process of receiving a U visa, a protected status afforded to victims of crime. His wife, Rosmeri Miranda, was detained on Thursday and faces deportation. Their children, including 21-year-old Beverly Juarez, now face life without their parents.

Federal hearing on guard, marines deployment

A federal court hearing is scheduled for Thursday on whether the Trump administration can use the National Guard and Marines to assist with immigration raids in Los Angeles. The governor of California filed an emergency motion requesting the court's intervention after President Donald Trump ordered the deployment of roughly 4,000 National Guard members and 700 Marines to L.A. following protests over his aggressive enforcement of immigration laws.
