On Wednesday, DeSantis said his administration is working on plans for a new ICE detention center at Camp Blanding — Florida’s National Guard training headquarters located southwest of Jacksonville. The announcement followed the launch of construction for another ICE facility near the Everglades.

'Quit now': Florida Rep. Maxwell Frost to ICE agents

Florida Congressman Maxwell Frost touted proposed legislation that would require ICE facilities and ICE-affilitated facilities to publicly release information on the people housed at those facilities, including names, dates, locations, and the reasoning for their detainment. He attacked President Donald Trump's immigration enforcement, and challenged ICE agents to "quit now," if they choose to hide their faces while enforcing these policies.

U.S. Rep. demands accountability from ICE

On Wednesday, U.S. Rep. Maxwell Alejandro Frost hosted a press conference alongside immigration advocacy groups to announce new legislation aimed at strengthening public accountability of ICE detention facilities and protecting due process rights for all. Frost said his “Stop Unlawful Detention and End Mistreatment (SUDEM) Act” would pull back the curtain on immigration detention by requiring all ICE-operated and ICE-affiliated facilities to be held accountable for their processes and actions."

Florida colleges focus on American students
