Memorial art installation honoring Pulse victims delayed

In February, the Pulse Memorial Advisory Committee finalized its recommendations for a memorial to honor the victims of the 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting. The memorial will feature an angel ellipse, healing garden, survivor’s wall and space for individualized tributes. Although the project was originally scheduled to be completed in late summer or early fall 2027, officials now say the memorial is at least a year behind schedule.

Melbourne city leaders to discuss shooting

Melbourne city leaders are meeting today to discuss a deadly shooting that took place over the weekend. A 19-year-old man was killed in the shooting, which took place early Sunday morning in downtown Melbourne. The victim, Nathaniel Bernard Jennings, was attending the University of Northwestern - St. Paul, a Christian university located in Minnesota, and was home in Palm Bay for summer break. He was a defensive lineman on the school's football team.

Trump arrives in Middle East; stocks surge after tariff pause

President Donald Trump arrived Tuesday morning in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is his first stop of a four-day trip that will include visits to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. The trip is also the first major overseas tour since Trump returned to the White House. The visit is largely expected to focus on business deals with the oil-rich region. Officials from the United States and China began trade-related talks Saturday, marking the first face-to-face conversations since President Donald Trump placed new tariffs of 145% on Chinese goods. In other news, India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire the same day after U.S.-led talks to end the most serious military confrontation between the nuclear-armed rivals in decades.

DeSantis signs death warrant for Florida convicted killer

A convicted killer has one month to live, as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has just signed a death warrant for Anthony Wainwright, who was convicted of kidnapping a woman in 1994 from a Winn-Dixie supermarket parking lot in Lake City and raping and murdering her in rural Hamilton County.

Coast Guard rescues boater near Sunshine Skyway bridge

A Florida boater was rescued by the Coast Guard Station St. Petersburg boat crew on Saturday morning. Officials said the man's 15-foot vessel capsized in the vicinity of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
