Van allegedly used as a getaway car in Florida Walmart theft

Marion County deputies say a van was used as a getaway car for a theft at a Walmart. The car was spotted when the driver ran a stop sign. A deputy chased the car, tapping its bumper a few times with his patrol car to get it to stop. However, the chase continued.

Brevard County firefighter funding battle continues

A Brevard County commissioner says more than $7 million in taxpayer funds has been used for firefighter overtime. The numbers are rising as the county continues to struggle to staff its stations.The fire union says people aren’t staying because the pay is too low. Firefighter pay starts at $15 an hour in the county, and staffing isn’t the only struggle.

Lake Nona High School student dies in street-racing crash

Anthony Sanchez, a Lake Nona High School student, has died after he and two other students were hurt in a fiery car crash on Wednesday, allegedly the result of street racing, officials confirmed. Sanchez suffered severe burns in the crash and died Thursday morning, according to the Orlando Police Department.
