What was supposed to be a relaxing Central Florida vacation ended in heartbreak for one visiting family. Susan Lawson says her 11-year-old golden retriever, Brodie, died after being attacked by another dog.

Several ceremonies and remembrances were held across Central Florida on Memorial Day, May 25, 2026, to honor and remember those lost while defending the United States of America.

Lindsay Issacs spent nearly two weeks in jail after being wrongfully arrested in connection to a deadly crash that happened months earlier. She has since been released from jail and the charges filed against her have been dropped. And a new person has been arrested and charged. However, the damage has been done, Isaacs told FOX 35, alongside her attorneys.  Former FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer has one question: "How in the world could this big of a mistake be made?"

Lake Harris Hideaway Bar in Lake County was open on Monday, Memorial Day, after strong thunderstorms on Saturday caused flash flooding inside the bar. Video showed a mass rush of water flow into the bar, including where a band was playing.  The bar's owner said some fencing, tables, and boards were damaged, but all that matters is that everyone -- the staff, customers, and band -- were OK and safe.

As many hit the beaches in Florida for Memorial Day, there is a high rip current risk.

Avery Lynn Sexton was the "happiest little girl you could ever meet," her dad, Dante Sexton, told FOX 35's Marie Edinger. Little Avery, who would have turned 2 in July, darted into a traffic lane on the beach, where she was hit. She died at the hospital. On Monday, a makeshift memorial with photos and notes was created on the beach.

After a deadly crash in Interstate-4 in Volusia County on Oct. 4, prosecutors dropped charges against a woman arrested in connection to the crash in April and arrested a different woman, Alisa Lee Montalvo. Prosecutor's say the evidence focused on the color of the vehicle, described as the driver of a black vehicle that allegedly committed a hit-and-run. Now, they say Montalvo's maroon vehicle, may have appeared black in the dark.
