Thrift shop owner donates uniforms for veterans' honors

The FOX 35 Care Force is honoring a Central Florida Navy Veteran making a difference in the lives of military families as they strive to give their veterans a burial with honors. FOX 35’s Amanda McKenzie went to Jerry Vaughn’s Down the Road Thrift Shop in Titusville to learn more about his mission to help military families honor their veterans in their final sendoff one uniform at a time.

Meet Skeeter, Lake County's new K-9 bloodhound

The Lake County Sheriff's Office has a new Bloodhound K-9: Skeeter. The new pup was born on July 12 in Eustis, Florida. He was donated to LCSO. He will help find lost and endangered persons, including children and vulnerable adults.

Sheriff Mina: 16-year-old dead, 15-year-old arrested in shooting

Orange County Sheriff John Mina said a 15-year-old high school sophomore has been arrested and charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of a 16-year-old at a nearby basketball court. Sheriff Mina said it appears that the shooting started as an scuffle earlier in the day after one boy bumped into another one in the hallway.

'On Sight' looks to tackle gun violence in America

Gainesville is taking the next steps in its ongoing, innovative approach to preventing gun violence with a pair of efforts that blend culture, conversation and community action, including a live performance of the solo play "On Sight" by nationally recognized scholar and performer Dr. Micah Johnson. The free performance will take place Friday night at the Gainesville Police Department. Johnson joins Good Day Orlando to talk more about the event's purpose.

Ronald Exantus arrested in Florida: Bodycam video

Ronald Exantus has been arrested in Florida for failing to register as a convicted felon, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said. His arrest comes days after he was released on supervised parole from the Kentucky Department of Corrections, serving roughly half of a 20-year prison sentence. Exantus was accused of breaking into the Tipton's home in 2015 and stabbing 6-year-old Logan to death. He was found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity. He was convicted of assaulting Logan's sisters and dad. The Marion County Sheriff's Office released bodycam video of Exantus' arrest.
