A Florida mother is recovering in the hospital after police said the father of her children stabbed her 13 times in front of their children. Tampa police identified the suspect as Michael Bresnahan and the victim as Crystal Bresnahan. They said after the stabbing Monday evening he led police on a chase and shootout. Authorities said it appears he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Two officers with the Daytona Beach Police Department were suspended for 40 hours after allegedly locking their son in a jail cell because he had an accident while potty training. Daytona Beach police said Monday both officers already served their sentences. They were punished for bringing scrutiny to the department. The Department of Families and Children found the allegations unfounded and prosecutors declined to file charges, court records show.
