Skies will become sunny as northerly winds pull in dry air behind a fast-moving cold front.
Twenty-seven years ago, a low-pressure center was taking shape in the western Gulf of Mexico. A line of rain and storms was anticipated here in Central Florida as a cold front swept through.
Crews are making preparations ahead of inclement weather that is expected to move across the region. Construction cranes are being lowered at some work sites, including the I-4 Ultimate Project. Power crews are also preparing for any downed lines or outages.
The winter solstice, which is shortest day of the year, will occur Saturday, Dec. 21.
