A Navy veteran turned 100 years old today in Volusia County, celebrating the milestone with family who flew in from across the country. Joseph Novack, a World War II veteran, joined the Navy after high school and served on a special mission in California before being honorably discharged due to an injury. Retiring in 1985, Novack was made an honorary Volusia County deputy and shared his life advice: “Work hard and travel the world when you can.”
