
Access to AED Act passes
A long-advocated public safety campaign is finally paying off as Florida lawmakers have passed a law requiring all public and charter schools to have AEDs, implement cardiac emergency response plans, train staff and students in CPR/AED use, and mandate EKGs for student-athletes. Shawn Sima, whose daughter survived sudden cardiac arrest, speaks about the importance of having AED machines in schools and ensuring staff are trained to use them.
