Florida AG Uthmeier accuses Worrell of offering a 'sweetheart deal' in murder case

The argument stems over a plea deal offered in a first-degree murder case. Hassan Adeyemo is accused of shooting and killing his wife, Nanchin “Sarah” Adeyemo. First-Degree Murder is a capital offense. The State Attorney’s Office could have sought the death penalty if they’d chosen to, or life in prison. Instead, Worrell’s Office offered a plea for 30 years behind bars. Attorney General James Uthmeier applauded the decision by Judge Eric Netcher to not accept the plea.
