James Ernest Hitchcock set to be executed in Central Florida
70-year-old James Ernest Hitchcock has been on death row for nearly 50 years in Florida, having been convicted of beating and choking his 13-year-old niece to death in 1976 after raping her. He is scheduled to receive a three-drug injection starting at 6 p.m. Thursday at Florida State Prison near Starke. Former Chief Judge of the Ninth Judicial Circuit, Belvin Perry Jr., served as prosecutor in one of Hitchcock's first resentencings. He joined FOX 35's Garrett Wymer live over Zoom to break down the case.
