'First They Came For My College' makes Florida premiere
The new documentary film 'First They Came For My College' is making the rounds at film festival, premiering at True/False Fest and playing at South by Southwest before its first Florida screening at the Enzian Theater's Florida Film Festival this weekend. Harry Hanbury, one of the producers on the film and a New College of Florida alumnus joins FOX 35's Johnny Jackson to talk about the process of documenting Governor Ron DeSantis' takeover of New College of Florida, the state's public honors college, and the battle over higher education and New College's resistance to what they called a conservative coup of the New College of Florida, ground zero in the nationwide push to end DEI programs, restrict diversity training, gender studies and place limits on academic freedoms.
