A veteran's mission: Restoring ST 479 Tiger, one of the last surviving WWII Army tugboats
From DeLand to Sweden and back again! The ST 479 Tiger tugboat, built right in Volusia County during World War II, is back on American soil thanks to local Vietnam veteran Dan Friend. After orchestrating a 4,900-mile journey across the Atlantic, Friend and the DeLand Historic Trust Inc. are rallying the community to restore her back to her authentic 1944 glory. The 407’s Lauren Margolis takes us aboard for a rare look inside.
