Ormond Beach officer shot by suspect in hospital

A suspect accused of beating an elderly couple outside Daytona College is also accused of fighting with an officer who was assigned to guard him, grabbing his gun, and shooting him in the leg. The suspect has been arrested on numerous counts and the officer is expected to be OK. The elderly couple the suspect allegedly attacked remain hospitalized and on life support, according to the arrest affidavit.
