Deputy shot in line of duty begins recovery after hospital release

A Florida sheriff’s deputy who was shot twice while responding to a call is recovering and says he is grateful to be alive after being released from the hospital. Deputy José Rivera of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office was released Wednesday, two days before speaking publicly about his recovery.
