LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A Disney employee is facing a child neglect charge after deputies say she left a toddler in a hot car in the employee parking lot of the Grand Floridian Hotel.
Myriam Lubin Cadet was released from jail early Tuesday morning. She didn’t want to talk on camera but told FOX 35 by phone that she is a good person and not a criminal. The 37-year-old says the child’s father is her cousin.
An arrest report states Lubin Cadet agreed to babysit Monday because his wife was going into labor.
Investigators say she picked the girl up and then drove back to work, leaving the child in the car with the engine off and the windows cracked at around 12:15 p.m.
They say another employee in the parking lot heard the child crying around 50 minutes later.
“The vehicle was very hot – it was 116 degrees per our investigation,” said Orange County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Ingrid Tejada-Monforte.
The report says the interior of the car was 113.5 degrees. Deputies say the toddler was sweating profusely and taken to the hospital to get checked out.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is now warning others that you should never leave a kids behind.
“Pay attention, take this seriously, if not, we are going to continue enforcing the law,” Tejada-Forte said.
We’re told the child is back with her parents.
FOX 35 reached out to Disney about the employee. A spokesperson sent this statement in response: “She has been placed on leave pending the outcome of the investigation.”
