Pilot dies after engine failure leads to plane crash
Officials say a pilot of a small plane is dead after an engine failure led to a crash in Titusville. The plane crashed into several trees and powerlines near the Space Coast Regional Airport, causing power outages throughout the city. TITUSVILLE, Fla. - One person was killed after a small, single-engine plane crashed on Monday morning, moments after departing from the Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville, officials said.
The pilot, the only person aboard the aircraft, died in the crash, officials said.

What we know:
The NTSB said the pilot reported engine troubles shortly after taking off and attempted to turn left to head back towards the runway. The plane crashed into some trees and powerlines, and then caught fire after it hit the ground.
The crash was reported around 10:15 a.m., moments after the pilot departed Space Coast Regional Airport.
Officials said the pilot was the only person aboard the plane and was found dead at the scene.
What we don't know:
The name of the pilot has not yet been released. Officials said they have not been able to positively identify the pilot due to the nature of the crash.
Columbia Blvd. to remain closed for a while
Local perspective:
Titusville police said eastbound and westbound lanes of Columbia Blvd. (State Road 405) would remain closed as the investigation continues, including potentially into Tuesday.
Police previously said the eastbound lanes could reopen on Monday afternoon, but the NTSB arrived, which required the roadway to remain closed due to the ongoing investigations.
