Firefighters extinguish early morning blaze

Four people are displaced after a fire in Orlando. Officials said the fire happened on Lake Underhill Road, not far from the Orlando Executive Airport. No one was injured, and the fire is now out.

Crews from the City of Orlando Fire Department said they responded to reports of a house fire around 3:45 a.m. Feb 20 on the 5200 block of Lake Underhill Road, near Andes Avenue in Orlando. Officials said no one was hurt in the fire, and the fire has been put out. It is currently unclear how the fire started or how much damage there is.

Ocoee one step closer to $1B retail, sports complex

The Ocoee City Commission has voted to approve the future land use and rezoning of a 150-acre parcel of land slated to become a $1 billion sports complex. The complex will include sports fields, restaurants, retail space and two hotels, and will be located off Ocoee-Apopka and Fullers Cross roads. Developers estimate it will create 5,000 jobs?3,000 direct and 2,000 indirect?and bring an annual economic impact of $1.2 billion. Construction is expected to be completed by 2027.

Man dies after falling off Orlando apartment balcony, police say

The Orlando Police Department says a man has died after falling off the balcony of an apartment building in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Police reported the incident took place around 4 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, in the downtown Orlando area. At this time, investigators said there has been no evidence of foul play.

Lake Nona High School student dies in street-racing crash

Anthony Sanchez, a Lake Nona High School student, has died after he and two other students were hurt in a fiery car crash on Wednesday, allegedly the result of street racing, officials confirmed. Sanchez suffered severe burns in the crash and died Thursday morning, according to the Orlando Police Department.
