Robin Severance-Lopez, the wife of suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez, rejected a plea deal in court on Thursday on charges related to her alleged connection to an illegal gambling operation linked to Marcos Lopez. Robin Lopez was also recently arrested -- and remains in jail -- on a charge of providing false or misleading information during a bond hearing. Her new trial date is set for December.

Osceola County sheriff’s deputies arrested two burglary suspects after they ordered a rideshare home from the crime scene, deputies said. The burglaries happened early Tuesday morning, deputies said. Deputies were surveilling the neighborhood because they claim it was the site of a “recent series of burglaries” when they saw the two suspects get into a car with duffle bags and backpacks, according to an arrest affidavit. Deputies pulled the car over. The unsuspecting “getaway” driver was hired by the suspects as a rideshare, deputies said. An arrest affidavit said the driver told deputies the items in the trunk belonged to the suspects and he did not know them. The targeted neighborhood is gated, every gate has a camera, many homes have surveillance cameras, hired security patrols in marked vehicles and deputies conducted surveillance. Deputies said that wasn’t enough to stop Ronie Joseph, 18, and Justice Lewis, 19, from burglarizing homes.

Richard Ferguson was found guilty of four counts of manslaughter, with prosecutors saying his actions led to the deadly crash of a grandmother and her three grandchildren. The kids' mother said she doesn't think the verdict is "too severe." Ferguson's son, who was driving the car, accepted a plea deal on reckless driving charges.

Officials with the Osceola County Sheriff's Office are seeking the public's assistance in finding a suspect after an attempted kidnapping early Saturday morning, according to deputies. Deputies were called out to the area of E. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway around 4 a.m. after the victim said she was walking in the area toward the intersection of Cross Prairie Parkway when a man in a silver SUV stopped in front of her. The victim entered the vehicle believing the man to be an Uber driver, according to officials. Deputies said while driving on Cross Prairie Parkway, the victim demanded to be let out after the man began making sexual comments.

A fire broke out at a Kissimmee junkyard Thursday afternoon, with high columns of smoke visible from the sky. It was then a suppression operation as 34 fire units fought a scrapyard fire at S. Orange Blossom Trail in Kissimmee, Oct. 16. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Osceola County Fire Rescue PIO Joshua Holder provides an update on efforts to put out a fire at a junkyard in Kissimmee. He said there have been no injuries reported and that no nearby structures are threatened. Crews are spraying water on the junk piles to put out the fire.
