The chief highlighted key accomplishments and outlined what?s next for the Kissimmee Police Department at a press conference on Thursday, July 10. Initiatives include leadership development, expanded wellness programs, new community outreach efforts and the implementation of new technology to enhance investigative capabilities.

The Kissimmee Police Department's Explorer's program aims to build relationships within the community. The program provides an opportunity for local youth to learn about law enforcement through practical application and training. The program also aims to provide career/law enforcement experience, leadership opportunities, and community service activities. Locals can sign up through Aug 15.

An intruder was shot by a man after he allegedly attempted to burglarize a home on Friday night in Osceola County. Mitchell Platt, 37, has been arrested for Burglary and Possession of Burglary Tools. Officials are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the sheriff?s office on its non-emergency number at (407) 348-2222.

The estranged wife of suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez will appear in court today in hopes of finally getting out of jail on bail. Robin Lopez was arrested on a federal charge of conspiracy to invest proceeds from racketeering. Marcos Lopez has been charged with conspiracy to commit racketeering and racketeering, allegedly tied to an illegal gambling house. A judge set Robin Lopez's bond at $400,000.

On Wednesday, the Kissimmee Police Department presented the findings of an independent investigation conducted by the Orange County Sheriff?s Office. This investigation followed concerns the State Attorney?s Office raised in October 2024 regarding the conduct and/or truthfulness of several sworn officers.

An 18-year-old man experiencing a mental health crisis was shot and killed by Osceola County deputies. OCSO said the man came out of the woods holding a gun, refused to drop it, and then charged at the deputies. The man later died. No deputies were hurt.

An 18-year-old man was killed in an officer-involved shooting that took place on Saturday in Osceola County, deputies say. The two deputies are OK and have now been placed on paid administrative leave. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the state attorney's office are investigating.
