Fires break out across Florida amid ongoing drought conditions

Crews across Florida and Central Florida are working to contain ongoing brush fires. A mandatory evacuation order was issued for residents in the Silver Springs area of Marion County on Friday due to a 150-acre active wildfire. Meanwhile, a 116-acre brush fire is burning in Osceola County in the Holopaw area. Three fires are also burning in Volusia County.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is still searching for the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash in Osceola County. The incident happened early Friday morning in the Buena Ventura Lakes area. Troopers say they have found the vehicle, but are still searching for its driver.

St. Cloud dedicates memorial bench to Maddie Soto

The City of St. Cloud is remembering Maddie Soto with a special bench at Lakefront Park. Maddie, 13, was found dead last year just days after she was reported missing.
