A boat theft quickly turned into a hours long search for the two teen suspects. The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office used marine units, K9 teams, and a helicopter to track down a 14-year-old and a 17-year-old. Deputies found the teens inside a culvert near an elementary school.

A truck driver was arrested for DUI after the tractor-trailer he was driving was seen drifting across multiple lanes of I-75, according to Florida Highway Patrol. Multiple motorists reported seeing the tractor-trailer failing to stay in its lane and nearly hitting another vehicle.

New video obtained by FOX 35 shows a Sumter County school bus, driven by Yvonne Hampton, slowly inching forward across railroad tracks in Bushnell as a CSX train sweeps by and hits the back of the train. Hampton has now been charged with 29 counts of child neglect. 

Yvonne Hampton, 67, was released on bond in Sumter County after being charged with child neglect after a train crashed into a school bus with students on it. FOX 35 crews caught Hampton leaving the jail on April 7. 

A Sumter County man, Derek Vaughn, is accused of killing his mother, claiming "God told him to do it." Investigators say the mother was on the phone saying her son was going to kill her. Vaughn stabbed his mother and later shot her, deputies say. 

A now former Sumter County school bus driver, Yvonne Hampton, 67, was released on a $30,000 bond after being charged with 29 counts of child neglect -- $1,000 per count. 

Students were in shock after their school bus was involved in a crash with a train. "I closed my eyes as hard as I could before that, and I’m thankful that nothing really bad happened, but it could’ve been way worse," said a student. Now, the bus driver is behind bars and facing 29 counts of child neglect without great bodily harm.

A school bus driver for the Sumter County School District, who has been working as a bus driver for the district for over 10 years, was recently fired after she was involved in a crash with a train. A train clipped the back of the bus. Though no injuries were reported, the woman is accused of 29 counts of child neglect without great bodily harm. 

According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a home on Clarke Street and discovered what they believe was a months-long theft operation tied to stolen golf carts and equipment across the county. Investigators say outside a travel trailer where 40-year-old Joshua Harrell had been squatting, they found multiple stolen golf carts, a UTV and thousands of dollars in professional-grade tools.
