Over 70 Lake Mary apartments 'unsafe' for occupancy

The Seminole County Fire Department reported on March 24 that 72 apartment units at the Pebble Creek apartments – located at 780 Creekwater Terrace – are not safe to live in. Of the 72 identified units, 48 were unoccupied. Residents living in the remainder of the affected units were relocated to available apartments within the complex, the fire department reported. 

Orange City family displaced after tree falls on home

A tree fell on top of a family's home, through the roof and injuring their daughter. The fell through the living room and their 15-year-old daughter's room. Now, the family is living in a hotel, trying to save enough for a new place to live.

A woman, pretending to a be a property owner, is accused of selling homes that didn't belong to her. Cheryl Annette Jefferson, 63, was released on bond on March 24. 

2 window installers shot in Winter Park after confronting theft, police say

Police said the shooting was reported around 3:50 p.m. on Tuesday near Overlook Road and Sylvan Boulevard. Two adult men were found with gunshot wounds and were taken to the hospital, police said. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known. "Preliminary investigation appears to indicate the victims were shot after they confronted two suspects involved in the burglary and theft of tools," Winter Park Police said around 7 p.m.

A Florida woman is accused of stealing mail from dozens of people in Holly Hill. Police said Carri Miller was found with mail from 63 addresses in her possession. Miller faces 63 counts of petit theft and 63 counts of fraudulent use of personal identification information.
