Arrests made in murder of Ocoee-area teen

Two people have been arrested in the shooting death of a 15-year-old Ocoee-area boy, killed last weekend.   It was less than five days ago, that Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings asked the community for help in locating the person who murdered Antwan Davis on the night of March 13.  During a news conference on Friday, Sheriff Demings announced that Michael Anderson, 17, is being charged with second-degree murder in that case.

Anderson was located in a wooded area near South Orange Blossom Trail and Piedmont Wekiwa Road Friday afternoon.  His girlfriend, Lindsey Shirley, 18, has been arrested for accessory after the fact and tampering with evidence.

"We hope this brings a measure of comfort to the friends and family of Antwan Davis, as they prepare for his funeral," Sheriff Demings said.

Anderson and Davis knew each other, said Demings, who explained the killing as the result of a drug deal gone wrong.  Davis was shot in the head about 11:50 p.m. last Saturday near Ocoee and his body was found on a sidewalk at Lakewood Avenue and Anderson Place.  Anderson has been arrested before, but investigators did not say what the charges were in the previous case.

Sheriff Demings also thanked the Ocoee area community for assisting detectives in making a speedy arrest.

Earlier this week, FOX 35 spoke with the mother of Davis, Stacy Thames, who explained that her son had had problems with some other teens in the neighborhood. She described her son as the oldest of her four children who had a beautiful smile.  "Happy, outgoing, outspoken, always had fun, loved to be around his family. They took my heart," she said.

The family has established a Go Fund Me account to help cover funeral expenses.  You can read more here: https://www.gofundme.com/dnujnjvt
