MARION COUNTY, Fla. - A Florida man has been convicted in the death of a woman who was killed in a two-car crash in Lake County in 2022.
A jury on Thursday found 32-year-old Justin Cobb guilty on all charges in the death of 75-year-old Elfriede Meyer, including DUI manslaughter and two counts of DUI with serious bodily injury.
The backstory:
The crash occurred on June 22, 2022, on County Road 42 near Umatilla when Cobb’s Chevrolet Tahoe, traveling eastbound, crossed the double yellow line and struck the westbound Ford Edge driven by Meyer.

Meyer, a resident of The Villages, died at the scene. Two female passengers in her vehicle sustained serious injuries and had to be extricated by emergency responders.

During the investigation, Cobb admitted to authorities that he had used methamphetamine the night before and described himself as a functional addict. Blood tests confirmed he was under the influence at the time of the crash.
