Deputy threatened while serving court document, prompting SWAT standoff in The Villages
SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. - A Sumter County deputy was confronted by a woman who allegedly pointed a gun at him while he attempted to serve a writ of replevin late Thursday morning in The Villages, authorities said.
A writ of replevin is a prejudgment process to seize illegally taken property, held until the court decides to return it to its rightful owner.

Authorities say the woman, Jana Lee Stafinsky, barricaded herself inside the home, prompting a SWAT response and voluntary evacuations of nearby houses in the area of Broxton Place in The Villages.

After hours of negotiations, deputies took her into custody and recovered the firearm, deputies said.
There was no danger to the public, officials reported.
