A 22-year-old mother of two was killed in a crash on Interstate 75 that investigators say was caused by an impaired driver, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Jasmine Brown died after her motorcycle was struck by a vehicle driven by Melinda Dillon, authorities said.

What they're saying:

Troopers said Dillon told investigators she had been drinking at a party in Ocala before getting behind the wheel. Breath tests later showed blood-alcohol levels of 0.09 and 0.08, according to authorities.

Dillon was arrested and later granted bond by a judge.

Family members described Brown as compassionate and selfless, saying her death had left them devastated.

"It’s really hard to grasp and explain the feelings that we feel," her sister, Sarah Brown, said.

Brown’s family said learning she was killed in a suspected DUI crash has fueled their determination to seek justice and raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving.

They are urging others to avoid driving under the influence, emphasizing that alternatives are readily available.
