Bicyclist killed in early morning accident on North Semoran Boulevard, officials say

A pedestrian riding a bicycle was fatally killed in an early morning accident after being struck by a Lexus on State Road 436, also known as North Semoran Boulevard.

The incident took place around 2:25 a.m. on Saturday, FHP says.

According to Florida Highway Patrol officials, the victim was struck by a 2010 Lexus RX which was traveling northbound on SR 436 approaching Hanging Moss road. The bicyclist was also traveling northbound in the outside lane ahead of the vehicle.

Reports suggest that the driver of the Lexus did not see the pedestrian in the roadway and as a result, the front of the vehicle hit the bicyclist. The 33-year-old Casselberry driver and the 28-year-old Longwood passenger were not injured and remained on the scene.

The victim, however, was transported to Advent Health Winter Park and, as a result, was pronounced deceased.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol and local authorities.
