The CDC recommends that all schools should continue to require masks for the rest of the academic year.

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now recommends that all schools should continue to require masks for the rest of the academic year.

According to FOX News, the CDC said in its latest guidance that all kindergarten through grade 12 schools "should implement and layer prevention strategies and should prioritize universal and correct use of masks and physical distancing."

Rochelle Walensky, the CDC Director, added that "our school guidance to complete this school year will not change and we'll be working on school guidance for the fall. We are actively working on that now and we're actively doing outreach with the community to do so as well."

This comes after the agency announced earlier this week that fully vaccinated people can go without masks indoors and outdoors. Most school-age children remain unvaccinated due to the age limits around the COVID-19 vaccine.

This comes after the agency announced earlier this week that fully vaccinated people can go without masks indoors and outdoors.

However, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and CDC approved the temporary use of the Pfizer vaccine in younger kids, ages 12 to 15, just last week.

The CDC said that although children can get infected by the coronavirus, most children who get COVID-19 have mild symptoms or no symptoms at all.
