Dezerland Park in Orlando reminds visitors of chaperone policy ahead of summer season

Dezerland Park in Orlando requires all visitors ages 17 and under to be accompanied by an adult.

The indoor attraction off International Drive updated its chaperone policy, called the Youth Caperone Program, which is aimed at ensuring everyone has a "safe and welcoming visit."

What does the policy say?

Under the Youth Chaperone Program, all visitors 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult chaperone who is at least 21 years old. Dezerland's previous park policy required minors to be accompanied by an adult who was at least 25 years old.

Chaperones must arrive with their group and stay on property for the duration of the visit, according to the Dezerland website.

Visitors may be asked to show valid ID to verify their age.

One chaperone may accompany up to four guests who are 17 and under per visit, according to Dezerland.

In a statement, Dezerland said the policy will help ensure all visitors have "a positive, family-friendly experience."

"Dezerland Park has had a Youth Chaperone Program in place and recently reaffirmed the policy as we head into the busy summer season and continue expanding our attractions," a spokesperson said. "Policies like this are increasingly common across entertainment destinations and help ensure a positive, family-friendly experience for all guests. We appreciate our guests' understanding."
