Regional surf lifesaving championships in Daytona Beach

More than 200 lifeguards from more than 20 teams across the state will go head-to-head on the beach today outside the Hard Rock Hotel in Daytona Beach. In addition to co-hosting the event, Volusia County Beach Safety will field its own team, joining fellow lifeguards in a series of water-based challenges, beach sprints and relay races — all designed to mirror the real-life demands of professional lifesaving. FOX 35's Matt Trezza heads over to the beach to speak with some of the participants.

2 men help to save Daytona Beach bar shooting victims

Three people were injured in a shooting that took place on June 20 at the Southturn Lounge and Restaurant in Daytona Beach. A suspect, 28-year-old Anthony Kaznakoff, was arrested. A marine and airman helped to save those who were shot. Travis Mathis and Vincent Roedel join Good Day Orlando to talk about the incident.

'No Kings' protestor speaks in Daytona Beach

"No Kings Day" protests are being held nationwide this weekend to protest President Donald Trump’s policies. "No Kings" protests have kicked off in Apopka, Casselberry, Lake Mary, Leesburg, Mount Dora, Poinciana and Daytona Beach. The Daytona Beach protest is happening at Daytona Beach City Hall, which is located at 301 S. Ridgewood Ave. FOX 35's Matt Trezza speaks with one of the protestors.

Students to race custom-built electric go-karts

Local high school students interested in future careers in STEM are heading to Daytona International Speedway on Tuesday to race their custom-built electric go-karts in a test of efficiency, thanks in part to Florida Power & Light Company (FPL). In collaboration with NASCAR, students will test their vehicles on the track and enjoy behind-the-scenes access and other educational activities at the iconic motorsport venue.
